Rod Clough, MAI is the Managing Partner for the majority of the United States consulting and valuation practice. His oversight spans 18 offices nationally, as well as 5 satellite offices, totaling 23 locations. The team under his direction includes more than 100 professional and support staff, including 15 MAIs.
Rod also oversees the report completion process for HVS US, spearheading new standards of accuracy and efficiency to speed the delivery of reports into clients’ hands. He continues to lead innovation efforts, helping keep HVS reports and services on the cutting edge.
Rod’s tenure with HVS spans more than 20 years. Rod is a Designated Member of the Appraisal Institute (MAI) and a state-certified general appraiser. His industry experience encompasses all hotel property types and brand segments, including convention headquarters hotels, resorts, limited- and full-service hotels, and extended-stay hotels. During his tenure with HVS, he has overseen the production of thousands of appraisal and consulting reports and published numerous articles and professional studies on the lodging industry. In 2007, Rod coordinated appraisals of nearly 200 properties associated with the $26-billion sale of Hilton Hotels to The Blackstone Group, an unprecedented transaction in the history of the international lodging industry. He also conducted the analysis of the proposed convention headquarters hotel for the City of Dallas.
Rod grew up in Boulder, Colorado, and graduated from Cornell's School of Hotel Administration with honors. While at Cornell, he was elected to hold the position of Managing Director for the school's Hotel Ezra Cornell 69. He held positions with Mirage Resorts and Le Parker Méridien NYC before joining HVS. Today, Rod and his husband Jeff reside in Fort Collins, Colorado. He is the proud father of Rebecca (12) and Rory (9).
